Jinan Going Global | Mi Wenpeng, Chairman of Jinan Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese: Overseas Chinese-Facilitated Internationalization Drives Jinan’s High-Level Opening-Up

On January 19, Mi Wenpeng, Chairman of the Jinan Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, stated in an exclusive interview with reporters from Jinan International Communication Center that the government work report features in-depth planning and pragmatic measures. The main goals and tasks for the 15th Five-Year Plan period as well as the work arrangements for 2026 set out in the report are highly aligned with the guidelines of the Central Government, well-suited to Jinan’s realities and in keeping with the expectations of the people, fully demonstrating the resolve to shoulder the mission of "taking the lead and assuming greater responsibility".

Over the past one year, centering on the "Year of Project Upgrading", the Jinan Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese has strived to take concrete steps and make dedicated efforts to serve the high-level opening-up of the provincial capital. In accordance with the deployment requirements of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and the Shandong Overseas Chinese Federation for the "overseas Chinese assisting thousands of enterprises and products to go global" initiative, it launched the "Overseas Chinese-Facilitated Internationalization" campaign, which has yielded fruitful results. It facilitated the signing of market development agreements between 16 overseas Chinese associations (communities) and 8 enterprises. More than 20 overseas Chinese associations (communities), including the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Thailand, conducted docking talks with over 60 enterprises such as Sinotruk Group. It also promoted the establishment of several Chinese-funded enterprises, including Dato Laser and China Construction Huaheng in the Euro-Conti Tech Park, while several Hungarian enterprises settled in Jinan. Meanwhile, the federation actively assisted relevant enterprises in Jinan to list on the Hong Kong stock exchange and played a key role in the successful holding of the 2025 Humanoid Robot Fully Autonomous Football Technology Experience Camp and Technical Exchange Match.

This year marks the first year of the 15th Five-Year Plan period and Jinan’s "Year of Project Empowerment". Based on the functional characteristics of the federation, we will strengthen our sense of mission and responsibility, give full play to our role as a bridge and bond, leverage the unique advantages of overseas Chinese resources—such as  hundreds of overseas Chinese associations (communities) and overseas Chinese service stations, which enjoy extensive connections and facilitate China-foreign exchanges—and make greater achievements in "economy via overseas chinese, achievements with their efforts". We will further expand the overseas network, develop platform channels, gain insight into market demands, carry out targeted docking, enhance service support, and provide abundant resources. With more effective measures, we will advance the " Overseas Chinese-Facilitated Internationalization" campaign, help more enterprises explore overseas markets, and unite and lead the broad masses of returned overseas Chinese, their family members and overseas Chinese nationals to contribute their wisdom and strength to building a stronger provincial capital.
