On March 13, the 2026 Jinan Laser Industry Conference kicked off at the Bodor Laser Global Headquarters. Under the theme ‘Laser Encounters in Jinan · Linking Light to the Future,’ the conference introduced, for the first time, a market-oriented approach, creating a deep-integration platform uniting government, industry, academia, research, applications, and finance in the laser sector.

The event was attended by He Zhongjun, member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice President of the Shandong Council for the Promotion of International Trade; Zhang Yongqiang, member of the Jinan Municipal Committee, Minister of the United Front Work Department, and Chairman of the Municipal Federation of Trade Unions; and Ren Guangfeng, Vice Mayor of Jinan. Over 400 participants—including academicians and experts in the laser field, domestic and international industry leaders, representatives of key enterprises, overseas guests, and international purchasing delegations—gathered in Jinan to discuss industry development and chart a blueprint for cooperative success.

The conference featured an opening ceremony, plenary reports, a keynote forum, and the Jinan “Light” Forum as main events, along with more than ten parallel activities, including standard review meetings and UN procurement training. Simultaneously, the 2026 Jinan Laser Industry Chain Expo was held, forming a comprehensive “one conference, one expo, multiple activities” industrial ecosystem covering core professional areas such as laser technology R&D, standards development, application transformation, and international trade cooperation.

At the opening ceremony, three distinguished guests—Ying Mingjiong, President of the China Optical and Optoelectronic Industry Association; Wu Yantao, Party Secretary of Qilu University of Technology (Shandong Academy of Sciences); and Fan Dianyuan, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering—delivered speeches sharing insights on industry trends, collaborative innovation in industry–academia–research, and frontier technology breakthroughs. He Zhongjun, member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice President of the Shandong Council for the Promotion of International Trade; Zhang Yongqiang, member of the Jinan Municipal Committee, Minister of the United Front Work Department, and Chairman of the Municipal Federation of Trade Unions also addressed the audience.

During the event, the China Optical and Optoelectronic Industry Association released the group standard “Laser Safety Officer Job Specification,” while the Shandong Laser Industry Promotion Association issued the “Jinan Declaration” for the laser industry. Multiple key projects were signed on-site, with a total contract value exceeding 900 million RMB, covering areas such as laser equipment manufacturing, new materials, and semiconductor processing. Once implemented, these projects will further complete the Jinan laser industry chain and enhance the sector’s core competitiveness.

Qilu Optoelectronics Valley is one of the core hubs for the development of Jinan’s laser industry. On-site, Qi Huaidong, Party Secretary and President of the Jinan Council for the Promotion of International Trade; Zhang Jun, Secretary of the Licheng District Committee; and Kong Jie, Chairman of Bodor Laser, jointly switched on the inaugural light, marking the completion of Bodor Laser’s global headquarters and the official lighting of Qilu Optoelectronics Valley. The formal unveiling of Qilu Optoelectronics Valley signifies that Jinan’s laser industry has entered a new stage of clustered and large-scale development. As a landmark project within the valley, Bodor Laser’s global headquarters will play a leading role, driving the agglomeration and growth of upstream and downstream enterprises.

At the keynote forum, academicians and experts from seven countries—including William O’Neill, Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, Professor of Laser Engineering at the University of Cambridge, and Director of the Centre for Industrial Photonics—delivered presentations on cutting-edge technologies and development trends in the laser industry. The “Light of the Spring City” forum invited top experts from leading domestic optical and mechanical institutes to conduct in-depth discussions on the industrial applications of laser technology in aerospace information, low-altitude economy, semiconductors, and other fields, providing intellectual support for industrial innovation and development.

Concurrently, the 2026 Jinan Laser Industry Chain Expo was held at the Shandong International Convention and Exhibition Center. Covering nearly 20,000 square meters, the exhibition featured themed areas including laser equipment, machine tools, automation, and intelligent manufacturing, showcasing the latest technologies and products. A total of 466 well-known enterprises, including Bodor Laser, Han’s Laser, JinQiang Laser, Multiwave Laser, Guangzhiju, Klingenberg (Harting), Jinsang, Neway, Siemens, Yushu Robotics, Predicted Future Robotics, and Zhujì Power, participated, covering the full manufacturing ecosystem from core machines to functional components, and from single devices to complete line solutions. More than ten simultaneous events were held, including industrial mother machine forums, laser export and trade forums, procurement matchmaking for various applications, and laser technology standard release conferences.

The 2026 Jinan Laser Industry Conference not only provided a comprehensive showcase of the city’s laser industry achievements but also demonstrated the successful implementation of a market-driven conference model. Jinan is currently China’s largest base for laser processing equipment and holds a global leading position in high-power laser processing technology. Looking ahead, the city aims to leverage this conference to accelerate its goal of building “China’s Third Laser Pole,” further deepen market-oriented reforms, attract global innovation resources, and promote the integration of the laser industry with the real economy. Jinan plans to develop an internationally influential laser innovation center and industrial hub, making the light of lasers a brilliant highlight in the city’s high-quality development.
